🧩 Understanding the Identity System¶
What This System Does¶
This platform uses a central identity system (single sign-on) so one account can authenticate you across many services.
That means once you have signed in successfully, you usually do not need separate credentials for each integrated app.
What It Covers (and What It Does Not)¶
- Most services in this ecosystem use this identity system.
- Access is role-based, so available apps can vary by user.
Need more access?
If you need access to additional services or higher permission levels, reach out to an admin.
🚀 Step-by-Step¶
· Start Signup¶
1. Read the Rules First¶
Start with the Community Rules so you understand the expectations around shared compute, storage, privacy, and respectful use.
This is a community space, not an anonymous public signup system, so the rules are part of the onboarding process rather than an afterthought.
2. Open the Login Page and Click Sign Up¶
Go to Sign In Page. On the login page, click the Sign up text to begin as a new user.
One account, many services
This environment uses single sign-on. One identity can be used across supported apps instead of juggling separate logins everywhere.
· Verify Email Ownership¶
3. Enter and Verify Your Email¶
Use a valid email address that you control right now.
- The system sends a verification email.
- Open that email and click Confirm Account.
- If the button does not work, copy the full confirmation URL and paste it into your browser manually.
Important email rules
Your confirmation email expires after 1 day. If it expires, start the sign-up process again.
· Create and Validate Account¶
4. Create the Account Profile¶
After email confirmation, you will be taken to the account creation page.
Fill in the required fields:
- Username: Permanent after creation.
- Password: Use a strong, unique password.
- Display name: The name others will see you by.
Do not use a throwaway email
The email address is locked after account creation. Use one you can keep accessing long term.
5. Sign In and Confirm Success¶
After submitting account details, you will return to the login page.
- Log in with the account you just created.
- If login redirects you back to the website, onboarding is complete.
· Secure Your Account¶
6. Secure the Account Right Away¶
Your first task after successful login is to secure the account.
- Enable two-factor authentication.
- Save recovery codes in a safe location.
- Review active sessions and connected devices.
- Avoid reusing this password anywhere else.
Do not skip security setup
Finish the Account Security guide before treating the account as fully set up.
✅ First-Day Checklist¶
A simple quick progress checklist:
- I read the Community Rules.
- I clicked Sign up on Sign In Page.
- I verified my email before the confirmation link expired.
- I created my username, password, and display name.
- I signed in and was redirected back successfully.
- I enabled 2FA using the Security Guide.
- I know where to get help if something breaks.
❓ Common Questions¶
Signup and Verification¶
- What if the verification email link does not work? - Open the email and manually copy the full confirmation URL into your browser. This usually works if the button click fails.
- What if the verification email expires? - The confirmation email expires after 1 day. If it has expired, restart sign-up from the login page.
- Can I change my email later? - No. The email address is fixed after account creation, so use one you can keep long term.
- Can I change my username later? - No. Username is permanent after account creation, so pick carefully.
Access and Permissions¶
- Will I get access to everything immediately? - Not always. Access is role-based, so your account may only show services assigned to your membership or responsibilities. If you need additional access, contact an admin.
- Do I need a separate account for every app? - Usually no. Most services use the same identity system. Some services do not support this integration, so they may require a separate account or different login method.
Recovery and Support¶
- What if I forget my password or lose my 2FA device? - Use the Help & Support page as your first stop. It points you to the recovery and troubleshooting path.
🧭 Where to Go Next¶
- Need to harden your account? Go to Configure Account Security.
- Locked out or confused by an error? Visit Help & Support.
- Want the broader picture? Return to Access & Identity or browse the Services Overview.
